Speaking to reporters in Taipei, Huang said the investment could become one of the largest in NVIDIA’s history. At the same time, according to Bloomberg, he pushed back on the WSJ report and stressed OpenAI’s strategic importance to NVIDIA.

In the fall of 2025, NVIDIA and OpenAI announced plans to deploy data centers with a combined capacity of up to 10 gigawatts, backed by as much as $100 billion in investment. The first phase of the project was scheduled to come online in the second half of 2026.

Bloomberg notes that the size of the upcoming funding round is unlikely to reach the $100 billion level, but emphasizes that the deal remains on the table.
