What we know
Gemini does not use personal photos, emails, or viewing history for model training. Instead, the system adapts responses based on user prompts and interactions within the chat. Users can choose which apps Gemini is allowed to draw context from, and in the future, they will also be able to specify individual chats. Personalization can be turned off at any time, and chat history can be cleared.
Google warns that over-personalization may occasionally occur, for example when the AI incorrectly links unrelated topics. The new feature is already live in the Gemini app on Android, iOS, and the web, but currently only for personal accounts.
Personal Intelligence is expected to launch soon in AI Search mode. Later, it will expand to additional countries and become available on the free subscription tier. Gemini has already been integrated into Gmail, mobile Chrome, and smart TVs. Earlier this week, Google also announced a partnership with Apple that will bring Gemini capabilities to the new version of Siri.
Personal Intelligence marks a meaningful shift from generic AI assistance toward context-aware support, but it also raises the bar for transparency and user control.
