A new cart functionality allows AI agents to add multiple items to a retailer’s shopping cart in a single action. The catalog feature enables agents to retrieve selected real-time product data — including prices, variants, and availability — directly from merchants. Through identity linking, logged-in users on UCP-enabled platforms can access the same loyalty programs and membership benefits as they would directly on a retailer’s website.

Google plans to integrate UCP into Search’s AI Mode and the Gemini app. The Merchant Center will also be used to make onboarding easier for smaller retailers. Partners such as Commerce Inc, Salesforce, and Stripe are preparing to support UCP across their platforms.

Google initially introduced UCP earlier this year as an open standard for AI-powered commerce, alongside Shopify, Etsy, Wayfair, Target, Walmart, and more than 20 other companies, including Visa and Zalando.
