The AI has access to the entire document and can assist with writing, editing, and structuring content. Users can search and integrate academic literature from sources such as arXiv, while whiteboard sketches or handwritten equations can be uploaded and automatically converted into LaTeX. Prism also supports real-time collaboration with co-authors.

Prism is built on Crixet, a LaTeX platform acquired by OpenAI. The goal is to eliminate the need to switch between multiple tools such as editors, PDF viewers, and reference managers, streamlining the entire research workflow.

Prism is now available to all users with a ChatGPT account at prism.openai.com. Access for organizations with Business and Enterprise plans will be rolled out at a later date.
