Beta testing of the Live Translation service is set to begin in spring 2026, and the company has already opened early registration for users.

“Some of the biggest barriers mobile users face are the simplest ones — like understanding each other. By integrating artificial intelligence into our network, we’re delivering more than just connectivity,” said T-Mobile CEO Srini Gopalan.

The service does not require any special apps or devices. The only requirement is that the translation must be initiated by a T-Mobile subscriber.

The feature will be available on 5G Advanced and 4G LTE networks.

“A key requirement is a Voice over LTE (VoLTE) connection, which ensures the service works reliably across a wide range of devices and network conditions,” said T-Mobile President John Saw.

Live Translation supports VoLTE, VoNR, and VoWiFi standards, making it accessible to users regardless of network type.

Beta participants will be able to activate the feature free of charge with no time limits. Initially, users must dial 87 to enable the service, though future updates will introduce support for the “Hey T-Mobile” voice command.

The system operates only during active calls and does not store audio recordings or transcripts.

“It’s designed for real-time translation and then shuts down without saving call content,” Saw emphasized.
