According to Sensor Tower, ChatGPT generated the highest revenue, reaching $3.4 billion in annual earnings. All 10 most-downloaded apps in 2025 were AI assistants. Overall, users spent 48 billion hours using AI applications — 3.6 times more than a year earlier.

The number of AI app launches exceeded 1 trillion in 2025, growing faster than total downloads. Throughout the year, Google, Microsoft, and X continuously added new AI features, including text, code, image, and video generation, which increased their combined market share from 14% to nearly 30%.

At the same time, OpenAI and DeepSeek accounted for nearly half of all AI app downloads. In the United States, more than 200 million people used AI assistants, including 110 million exclusively on smartphones. Beyond assistants, popular categories included music generation apps (Suno), video creation tools (Jimeng AI), and virtual companions such as Character.ai and PolyBuzz.
