Manus develops general-purpose autonomous AI agents capable of independently handling complex tasks such as marketing research, software development, and data analysis. The technology acts as a connective layer that turns the capabilities of large language models into concrete, end-to-end workflows

Under the terms of the deal, Manus will continue to operate as an independent service, according to the report. Existing subscriptions and customer access will remain unchanged. At the same time, Meta is expected to integrate the startup’s technology into its business and consumer products, including Meta AI.

According to the WSJ, Manus CEO Xiao Hong will report to Meta COO Javier Olivan, while the project’s headquarters will remain in Singapore.

In April, the company raised $75 million in a funding round led by venture firm Benchmark. In December, Manus reported reaching $100 million in annual revenue just eight months after launch.

Since its debut, the platform has processed more than 147 trillion tokens and created over 80 million virtual computers.

Manus’ parent company, Butterfly Effect, was founded in 2022 and was initially based in China. The team later relocated its headquarters to Singapore to work more closely with U.S. investors and technologies. The startup has since abandoned plans to launch a version of its product for the Chinese market.
