The “general-purpose digital employee” works with the same interfaces as the user. The tool can create and execute workflows and is capable of running tasks for hours without interruption.

The first version of the product, Perplexity Computer, was released in February 2026. On March 11, the company introduced an updated version of the AI assistant.

Perplexity positions the service as a standalone computer because it provides “high-precision AI search, an orchestration system of 20 advanced models, and agent-level internet access.”

“Personal Computer runs on a dedicated Mac mini that can operate around the clock, connects to your local applications, and interacts with Perplexity’s secure servers,” the startup said in a blog post.

The company describes the solution as a “digital representative of the user,” allowing remote management of work tools and files from any device.

Personal Computer operates within a secure environment with built-in safeguards. Critical operations require manual confirmation, and an emergency shutdown mechanism is available in case of failures.

Computer for Enterprise

Perplexity conducted research based on metrics from McKinsey, Harvard, MIT, and BCG. According to the findings, Perplexity Computer:

  • saved internal teams approximately 1.6 million dollars;
  • completed workloads equivalent to 3.25 years of tasks in just four weeks.

The company also introduced Computer for Enterprise. The service integrates easily into corporate infrastructure and supports hundreds of popular platforms, including Snowflake, Salesforce, and HubSpot.

Clients can customize the neural network for their own business processes. For example, employees can interact with LLMs directly in Slack through private messages or shared channels to write code, create dashboards, prepare presentations, build financial models, and complete other tasks. The platform also supports asynchronous workflow execution.

Ecosystem Update

Perplexity also announced updates to several of its other products:

  • Comet has been adapted for enterprise environments — administrators can control where and how the assistant operates, define permissions for the entire browser or individual domains, and approve more advanced capabilities;
  • the Perplexity platform now includes four APIs: Search, Agent, Embeddings, and Sandbox;
  • Computer can now access data from Statista, CB Insights, and PitchBook;
  • Perplexity Finance has been updated — a data and analytics layer for Computer, Deep Research, and Search, including a dedicated dashboard for tracking markets and news in real time. The service now supports more than 40 financial instruments in real time.

The entire Perplexity ecosystem is now unified under the single brand Computer. The initiative aims to integrate artificial intelligence across all levels of work — from personal productivity tasks to enterprise software and financial analytics.
